Wade Davis is Professor of Anthropology and the BC Leadership Chair in Cultures and Ecosystems at Risk at the University of British Columbia. Between 1999 and 2013 he served as Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society. Author of 20 books, including One River, The Wayfinders and Into the Silence, winner of the 2012 Samuel Johnson prize, he holds degrees in anthropology and biology and received his Ph.D. in ethnobotany, all from Harvard University. His many film credits include Light at the Edge of the World, an eight-hour documentary series written and produced for the NGS. Davis is the recipient of 11 honorary degrees, as well as the 2009 Gold Medal from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, the 2011 Explorers Medal, the 2012 David Fairchild Medal for botanical exploration, and the 2015 Centennial Medal of Harvard University.
In 2017, he received the George Ryga Award for Social Awareness and from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society the Sir Christopher Ondaatje Medal for Exploration. In 2016, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
At age 17, Amal Elsana Alh'jooj established the first Bedouin women's organization. Today she is a leader in the Arab Bedouin community in Israel and a key figure in sustainable community development in the Negev region.
In 2000, Amal founded AJEEC, becoming the Co-Executive Director of AJEEC-NISPED in 2008 (the Arab-Jewish Center for Equality, Empowerment and Cooperation - Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development). She currently serves as the organization's Director of North American Relations.
A graduate of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel) and McGill University (Canada), Amal is currently studying for her doctorate at McGill. She resides in Montreal. Amal has been recognized with numerous awards honors for her work in advancing Bedouin rights, Arab-Jewish relations in Israel, and innovation in the field of social work.

Lisa Dazols is a social worker and activist originally from San Francisco, With no film experience, Lisa and her wife left their home to travel around the world in search of the people leading the LGBT equality movement. Their film, Out & Around has since had a television broadcast, been featured in several international film festivals, and is currently available for on demand download worldwide. Their TED talk has had over 1.6 million views.
Lisa and her wife now have a one year old daughter, Charlie, and live in Zurich, Switzerland.
